Monday, February 06, 2006 ::: GOODBYE ALICE IN WONDERLAND There is difference between dreaming and pretending... It was only a reflection of my lonely mind searching... what's been missing in my life. Her most personal song to date, and the her most beautiful work ever. Jewel is back. The 'old' Jewel is back, I should say. When she released the Intuition video back in 2003 for her album titled '0304', nobody would've believed that was Jewel all drenched in her short tight skirt, flirting with fireman and shaking her booty. As much as I thought the tune was fun, nobody was quite sure whether the video was meant to be a mockery of the world we live in or whether that was Jewel selling out. I tend to think she's simply having some fun doing something she's never done before (just like the Corrs becoming punk rock stars in the 'Would You Be Happier' video) instead of selling out. But our lovely Jewel, the girl who penned songs like 'Hands' and 'Standing Still', must have disappointed some fans I guess, because afterall she was flashing too much skin. But the old Jewel is back. And back with a tune that's more beautiful than ever. Check out 'Goodbye Alice In Wonderland', a beautiful beautiful song that's written about her growing up. It is the title track of her album to be released in May, and the video was shot in her ranch in Texas. It's not even the lead single - the first single should be a more radio friendly track I assume, called 'Again and Again'. She's releasing this homemade video only as a teaser to her album, and from the sound of it I'm having high hopes for the album. The video shows Jewel, in close ups, singing the tune, with her ranch as the background. It's very simple yet she's gorgeous this way. Watch the video to 'Goodbye Alice In Wonderland' here.
